STORY OF THE CONE 1951 Saint Louis Fair 1904 ice cream vintage article

Description:

Original vintage ice cream industry trade magazine article for THE STORY OF THE CONE Born in 1904 at the St. Louis World's Fair, the ice cream cone today symbolizes America and the growth of the ice cream industry.  Ernest A. Hamwi, credited with originating the cone.  Pictures in 1924 Wheat's Ice cream in Buffalo, NY suited the vehicle of expression to the subject of a Cone Week Promotion. Mr Hamwi had a booth at the World's Fair in 1904 at what was then called Constantinople-on-the Pike selling hot waffles.  Next to his booth ice cream was being sold.  Many people bought ice and and waffles and ate them together, which brought about his idea of rolling the waffle into the shape of a funnel or cone and inserting the ice cream.  John MN. Miller with the Ambrosia Creamery Inc. of Napa, CA also gives history of the cone business. Old 1951 3 page dairy article.
