The primary functions of the Rex Pre-Heater are (1) to heat the boiler feed water to near boiling point before it enters the boilers, thereby saving fuel, (2) to remove silt and sediment from the feed water , thus increasing the efficiency of the boilers and keeping tubes clean for longer operation and (3) to furnish ample hot water storage capacity for settling out solids and minimizing water disturbance.
