Founded in 1873, the American District Telegraph Company (ADT) is a nationwide organization whose sole business is the manufacturer, installation, operation and maintenance of electric protection systems against fire, burglary and hold-up. These systems are in use by more than 30,000 industrial, mercantile, banking and institutional establishments from coast to coast, representing property values the aggregate more than $21,000,000,000.  

Central Station Service - ADT Central Station Service, available in all principal cities, provides continuous electrical supervision of the protection system through an outside organization which takes appropriate action immediately upon receipt of any emergency signal. Fire and burglar alarms are transmitted by direct wires to the fire and police departments. Trouble signals are immediately investigated and corrective action taken. Periodic inspections and complete maintenance of the system are provided by ADT.

Local Alarm Systems - Where ADT Central Station Service is not available, the protection equipment may be installed as a local system, giving visual and audible alarms upon the protected premises. If desired, direct wire connection to police or fire departments can be made. In large establishments, the protection equipment may be connected to an owner owned and operated proprietary central station within the protected premises. Provisions may be made for periodic inspections and maintenance by ADT.
