There are certain materials those qualities fit them for specific uses. Thus Platinum metals and gold belong naturally to dentistry. The incorruptibility of these metals, the tolerance with which the delicate tissues of the mouth and endure their presence, their versatility, the manner in which almost any required degree of hardness, resilience or ductility can be imparted to them by the skilled metallurgist; all these would warrant and even compel their employment, though they were common instead of precious metals. And they are not necessarily costly. Alloys exist which compare favorably with less efficient dental materials.

Oralium would be a high-priced casting gold were it not that improved refining methods have greatly increased the production of Palladium, in which the alloy is very rich. Oralium is light, yet strong. It is suitable for all castings, including inlays.
