Manufacturers of Universal Cast Iron Pipe.
Universal Cast Iron Pipe and Fittings made of cast iron with hub and spigot ends, the contact surfaces of which are machined and tapered giving a natural iron-to-iron joint which is permanently tight. As the tapers are slightly different pitch, the joint provides for the expansion and contraction, vibration and uneven ground settlement. Made in standard 6-foot lengths, Universal Pipe is easy to handle and easy to lay. Experienced labor is unnecessary. The lines of pipe are drawn together by bolts, 2 bolts to a joint sufficing accept for pressures above 250 pounds in some sizes. The pipe therefore can be laid at slight labor cost. No molten lead, no cold lead, no pouring or caulking or other jointing materials are required. Bolting together of the pipe and fittings is done with wrenches, preferably ratchet wrenches. Laid practically anywhere, in any season, up-hill and down, in wet trench and dry, across bridges and underwater.
