The word 'COLMONOY' (COLE-MON-OY) designates certain heretofore unknown metallic crystals, which do not lose their identity when fused with other metals. These Colmonoy crystals are not a tungsten carbide. In fact, they are free from both tungsten and carbon. They do not oxidize at elevated temperatures, have a hardness of approximately 9 on the Moh's scale, and are practically insoluble in hydrochloric, nitric, Aqua Regina and even a mixture of hydrofluoric and nitric acids. They have a very high melting point and a specific gravity of about 2/3 that of mild steel.
