Joseph Reed built the first successful oil field gas engine in 1894. Since that time, the Reid Line of Oil Field Machinery has expanded and grown with the industry. Reid Engines and Powers are thoroughly modern in every detail and have kept in step with the demands required by oil field development. Included in the line are various types and sizes of engines for every oil field power purpose, ranging from 12 HP to 175 HP. Particularly suited to beam well operation and central pumping power plant drives, these engines are also adaptable to all types of heavy work, such as driving water pumps, pipeline pumps, compressors, countershafts, generators, or in power plants of any industry where a heavy duty prime mover is required.
