Kimsul is unique among building insulations and acoustical materials because it is made of many individual plies - each one a continuous separate layer of soft, clean, crepe, asphalt-treated cellulose fibers. Each ply is controlled carefully in manufacture both as to thickness and crepe. The result is a flexible blanket, inherently uniform in thickness - an important factor in a thermal or sound insulating material. The Kimsul plies and the creped Pyrogard cover are held together with rows of strong stitching. The entire assembly is permanently resistant to fire, vermin and mold.
