The rapid development of labor-saving printing machinery during the past ten years has made necessary the development of printing press motors and control apparatus that enable these new presses to function as intended by their builders. The Kimble Electric Company were pioneers in the development a variable speed control for job presses on Alternating Current service. The Kimble Variable Speed AC Motor provides a speed range of 4 to 1 with a control that is stepless, flexible, and convenient. Various mechanical methods of operating the speed regulating mechanism or provided. The hand control unit, which is known as the Press-O-Matic Unit, has a push button which makes it possible to stop the press without changing speed regulator settings. A foot control unit is also provided for these printers who like to adjust the speed of the press without using their hands.
