The heart of the Metco metallizing system is the Metco Gun, which may be well termed a miniature portable foundry and high-powered spraying tool combined. With the Metco Gun, metal wire is melted buy a high temperature flame (Acetylene, Propane, Hydrogen or manufactured gas and oxygen, and sprayed by compressed air in finely atomized molten particles. Regardless of the metal sprayed or the metal upon which the spray is deposited, the tough tenacious bond between the two is assured. Warpage, crystallization, heat strain, or the need for flux or preheating are eliminated. It is necessary only that the base metal be clean and dry and prepared either by sand or grit blasting or by special roughening tool. Finishing is done by machining, grinding, polishing or wire brushing, depending on the metal applied and the finish required.
