Winter traffic requirements are now generally met in the country by plowing the roads, but in towns on which these roads converge, congestion is becoming increasingly worse. Every snowfall covers the streets with slippery snow, quickly changing into still more slippery ice, making the orderly movement of vehicles and pedestrians impossible. Plowing the snow to the curb does not afford the desired relief. It prevents parking and deliveries; trucks stop outside the piles and obstruct the narrowed way; gutters are blocked and filled with ice, while merchants and others dig out their frontage is piecemeal at a total expense greater than the cost of a complete removal by modern methods. In such cases, the remedy lies in complete removal of snow, and for this work, the outstanding machine is the Nelson Snow Loader, more of which are in successful use then other mechanical snow loaders put together.
