Over 1000 swimming pool installations in service throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America.   We recommend recirculation of all pools containing 100,000 gallons or less in not more than 8 hours. The same period of recirculation should be used for large pools where the congestion will be more than average. In no case, regardless of size of pool or anticipated number of bathers, should the period for recirculation exceed 12 hours. Many States have adopted regulations, mandatory or otherwise, requiring or recommending certain standards with regard to the 'Period of Recirculation' and 'Rate of Filtration'. Architects and Engineers planning the design and construction of a swimming pool should consult the State Board of Health, having jurisdiction, before establishing these important design factors.
