Hard covered book titled RUGS AND WALL HANGINGS PERIOD DESIGNS AND CONTEMPORARY TECHNIQUES by Joan Scobey, Original Designs and Illustrations by Marjorie Sableow, First Printing, 1974, 244 pages.
This book is really two books in one: the history of rugs, and a primer on contemporary rugmaking techniques. The history is descriptive: how rug designs originated; how rugmaking traditions sprang up; what the materials and techniques were. The second half of the book is how-to. It contains a full explanation of how you can duplicate the great designs by using contemporary techniques and materials at home. Both sections are fully illustrated, in color and black and white, with line drawings and photographs. There are also numerous charts, diagrams, and step by step instructions. There is a large section of original rug designs as well.
This book is in VG condition, pages clean and intact, and the binding is tight.
