Original 1930 electrical trade vintage catalog for the SPERRY GYROSCOPE COMPANY, INC. Main office and plant was located at the Manhattan Bridge Plaza, Brooklyn, NY.
Manufacturers of Sperry-AGA Airport Floodlights.
The Sperry-AGA Airport Floodlights use the Sperry fully automatic high intensity Arc Lamp, known the world over for its tremendous power, efficiency and reliable operation. The physical characteristics of this light are such that when used in conjunction with the 1000 millimeter precision ground 180 degree dioptric lens, it's 4,000,000 candle power fan of light is directed downwardly onto the ground giving a very uniformly lighted area of sufficient size to provide safe landings for the largest transport ships. It's power exceeds the requirements of the Department of Commerce for fields of A1A rating. The absence of upward glare results in more light on the field where it is needed and results in practically no blinding of the pilot even though he may be landing toward it. The fully automatic lamp burns a full trim of carbons lasting 2 hours without the need of attention. The precision ground lens is made by the American Gas Accumulator Company, one of the oldest and best known manufacturers of lenses for lighthouses and similar purposes.
